Machine Operator I-Sweet Tart Rope Production Line

Work Location: ​Itasca​

Position requires the ability to work overtime.  As a result, it may require working varying start times, end times, and weekends dependent on business needs.

One Week: Monday, Tuesday, Saturday, and Sunday: 48 Hours

Next Week: Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday: 36 Hours

The Sweet Tart Rope Cook Operates and maintains the Sweetart Rope cooking and supporting equipment at established standards for personnel safety, food safety and 
performance.

Ways you will make a difference

  • Read formulas and follow product specifications and manufacturing instructions. 
  • Organize materials and time to prevent delays in production.
  • Operate electronic controls, overhead hoists, balances, batching systems, mixers, cooker, 
    and conveyors to prepare and deliver licorice mass and/or sugar paste to extruder. 
  • Record raw material and production batch lot tractability information on appropriate 
    forms & within SAP. 
  • Operate and adjust extruder and conveyor equipment, electronic control systems, and 
    analytical equipment to produce product meeting specifications.
  • Disassemble equipment for cleaning and reassemble prior to production, including use of 
    hand tools such as wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, and manual chain hoist.
  • Do daily (beginning and ending) inventory of work area. 
  • Lift bags of various ingredients to transfer into batching vessels or holding containers
  • Transfer materials into weigh-up containers using a scoop.
  • Lift bins of scrap occasionally as needed.
  • Move pallets of material using pallet jack occasionally as needed.
  • Roll extruder into and out of position for production and cleaning.
  • Replenishes materials (sugar, flour, acid, color, flavor) using Globe/SAP.
  • Maintain clean work area utilizing daily GMP checklists.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills that will make you successful

  • Basic mathematical skills. 
  • Ability to walk or stand for prolonged periods; ability to bend, stoop, reach and lift up to 50  
    pounds.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to carry out detailed written  
    and/or oral instructions.
  • Promote teamwork; possess a good attitude, and exhibit flexibility and willingness to perform  
    tasks as needed.
  • Ability to problem solve by adjusting variables in standardized situations.

Experiences that will support your success

  • Working knowledge of standard tools and production equipment
  • Minimum of 1 year experience operating Industrial Production Machinery and/or working in food  
    manufacturing strongly preferred.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months’ related  
    experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Compensation

$25.50 per hour plus a .39 cent per hour shift differential.
