Machine Operator I, 2nd Shift

Work Location: ​Forest Park​

 

Position requires the ability to work overtime.  As a result, it may require working varying start times, end times, and weekends dependent on business needs.  Hours are 4:00 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.

The Machine Operator in panning and engrossing departments is responsible for making quality candies by following company guidelines and specifications in a safe, efficient, and sanitary manner. 

 

Ways you will make a difference

 

  • Conducts assigned work in a safe manner and adheres to all good manufacturing principles 
  • Verifies centers that will be engrossed meet all quality standards regarding size and texture
  • Feeds kettle with raw materials (sugar, syrup, flavorings) and cooks ingredients to specifications
  • Responsible for safe operation and sanitary upkeep of entire bay of pans 
  • Conducts adjustments to controls to regulate temperature and amount of raw materials
  • Loads trays/boards on truck to be sent to the polishing room
  • Checks production schedule to determine variety and quantity of products
  • Conducts on-going quality checks to ensure highest product quality
  • Perform product changeovers
  • Informs immediate supervisor of any problems encountered including, but not limited to quality, safety and/or equipment performance. 

Skills that will make you successful

 

  • Ability to manage and troubleshoot problems involving variables in standardized situations
  • Talents in machine operation and ability to troubleshoot problems with all process equipment
  • Skills in performing simple mathematical calculations 
  • Ability to work overtime as needed
  • Capable of understanding time tracking objectives with the ability to swipe into orders and perform other objectives in the production systems

Experiences that will support your success

 

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Three months or more of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience 
  • English speaking and reading skills
  • Promotes teamwork, possess a good attitude, and exhibits flexibility and willingness to perform tasks as needed

$25.50 hourly plus $1 hourly differential
