Sanitation Technician 2nd Shift

Work Location: ​DeKalb​

Due to the highly interactive and team-based nature of this role, in-person attendance for most of the workweek (i.e., 3 days or more) is essential for: effective communication including during in-person meetings, strong supervision, real-time problem-solving, and participation in cross-functional initiatives.

The Sanitation Technician will plan, direct, and control daily and nightly cleaning activities to meet established standards. The position is responsible for following proper procedures to clean industrialized equipment, ensure adherence to food  safety standards and assist in minimizing down time. 

Ways you will make a difference

Manage plant sanitation procedures, programs and regulatory requirements, ensuring all plant equipment is clean and safe for production
Strictly adhere to sanitation, GMP, and safety standards
Perform cleaning and sanitation activities according to Master Sanitation Schedules for the facility interior and exterior and ensure superior sanitation of equipment and surrounding areas 
Mentor and motivate Janitors and Balers on shift, providing training and development to optimize performance and personal growth
Participate in regular meetings with plant management to discuss quality and sanitation improvements
Facilitate problem resolution related to sanitation and sanitation quality issues
Follow up on work orders with the appropriate associates to ensure expeditious performance of the requested work
Monitor the Chemical storage and dispense the appropriate concentration for cleaning activities 
Receive and track sanitary and chemical inventory
Monitor sanitation team in the use of chemicals and proper safety procedures, checking inventory levels of chemicals and ordering supplies when necessary
Understand and demonstrate the Company’s core values and operating principles
Adhere to all company policies and procedures
Perform other duties as assigned support to Ferrara Candy Company business objectives

Skills that will make you successful

  •           Knowledge of cleaning chemicals
  • Basic knowledge of HACCP, BRC food safety and GMP principles
  • Sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines; self-directed
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills 

Experiences that will support your success

·   Minimum of 2 years sanitation experience in the food-industry preferred

Compensation

$23.50 hourly plus .75 cent shift differential
