Warehouse Lead, 2nd Shift

Work Location: ​Chicago​

 

Position requires ability to work overtime. As a result, it may require working varying start times, end times, and weekends dependent on business needs

Warehouse Lead, 2nd Shift position is primarily on 2nd Shift but must be able to cover other shifts as needed to ensure coverage on vacation times and related. Supports the Material/Logistics Supervisor in the daily activities and leads the team. Reports directly to Material/Logistics Supervisor. Coordinates activities, directing employees in daily tasks. Works with peers sharing information and creating a positive work environment. 

Ways you will make a difference

 

Perform normal assigned duties in addition to the following functions:

  • Assign work schedules and daily duties.
  • Responsible for daily check of dock lights inside and out
  • Provide backup when needed for loading or unloading and daily job duties when under staffed.
  • Backup for Shipping/Receiving Coordinator.
  • Ensure employee safety through sound decision making
  • Provide a clean working environment in warehouse areas.
  • Ensure processes are followed in regards to shipping and receiving departments.
  • Make changes required to improve department effectiveness.
  • Ensure cycle counts and daily reconciling is complete.
  • Audit trailers to improve DURP issues.
  • Ensure employees are properly trained and follow safety guidelines.
  • Plan, organize and control employees to effectively support the shipping department to achieve success.
  • Responsible for creating work notifications for the department.
  • Monitoring recycle trucks to ensure when loads are full and needs to be replace with and empty.
  • Responsible to maintain proper Chep pallet inventory.
  • Must be able to work a 8 hour shift and be able to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift 

Skills that will make you successful

 

  • Must have solid communication skills, Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Solid math aptitude
  • Computer skills with SAP, warehouse systems and Microsoft Outlook applications strongly preferred.
  • Must have a Forklift Operator Certification
  • Must have 6+ months of experience in a similar setting
  • Must have good and proven attendance record

Compensation

 

$31 hourly
