Due to the highly interactive and team-based nature of this role, in-person attendance for most of the workweek (i.e., 3 days or more) is essential for: effective communication including during in-person meetings, strong supervision, real-time problem-solving, and participation in cross-functional initiatives.

The primary responsibilities of this position are to lead assigned ingredient material categories by developing subject matter expertise within the category and ensuring the supply of inbound raw materials comply with Ferrara quality and food safety standards. This is achieved through the auditing of new and existing suppliers, maintaining supplier documentation, non-conformance resolution, conducting ongoing supplier performance reviews and the development of supplier relationships. This position works closely with procurement, research and development, food safety, regulatory and manufacturing operations teams to execute strategic sourcing initiatives, maintain business continuity, drive improvement within the supply chain and help commercialize new innovations.

Ways you will make a difference
Conduct risk-based audits of new and existing suppliers, seeking conformity to applicable standards, and assessing potential risks to the Ferrara supply chain.
Providing input into the selection process for potential new suppliers for Ferrara business and verification of alternative materials and suppliers.
Assess effectiveness of non-conformance corrections and corrective action/plans
Ensure timeliness, consistency, and accuracy in all audits and audit reports.
Manage assigned supplier portfolio by ensuring document review and compliance within the QMS (Quality Management System) for all food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
Manage the supplier non-conformance process by working with Ferrara sites and suppliers to drive for resolution of non-conformances. Use ongoing performance to conduct supplier performance reviews.
Provide functional supervision/coaching to suppliers in quality, compliance of specifications, and food safety, including the operational/executional compliance to the Ferrara Supplier Expectations
Develop required relationships and capabilities within our supply base for the present and future by acting as the as the subject matter expert for assigned raw material categories.
Keep informed of industry food safety and regulatory compliance standards and associated hazards. Identify and assess potential risks prior to occurrence and notify appropriate senior management and technical personnel of potential issues and viable solutions.

Ability to assess and mitigate risk; to make informed decisions.
Strong written & verbal communication skills and diplomacy.
Strong auditing skills; at least 2 years of experience.
Analytical ability, leadership strength and ability to collaborate effectively with a team.
Computer software skills to include MS Office, SAP, TraceGains and supplier management systems.
Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time (domestic and international)
Experiences that will support your success
Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, Chemistry, or other food related degree.
Demonstrated ability in any of the following: food law, food technology, food chemistry, microbiology, or agricultural supply chain practices.
HACCP certification required. FSMA PCQI and GFSI (FSSC) certifications preferred.
Certification as a lead auditor preferred.

Compensation
$68,625 to $96,075 annually
