Senior Specialist, Emerging Regulations

The Senior Emerging Regulations Specialist will proactively monitor and engage with evolving trends and regulations in 
the confectionery, fruit snacks, and dietary supplement sectors across various regions, including but not limited to the
Europe, APAC (Asia-Pacific), North America, and LATAM. This role will involve conducting research and identifying 
potential risks to Ferrara globally for food and food contact materials. Reporting to the Regulatory Expert, this role is 
essential for fostering cross-functional collaboration with teams such as Legal, Government Affairs, Product Development, 
Marketing, Quality, and International.

• Actively monitor and stay informed about emerging trends and regulations through participation in industry-led 
working groups, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations
• Analyze and interpret complex international regulatory documents to understand their implications to Ferrara 
products related to confectionery, fruit snacks, dietary supplements, and food contact materials.
• Propose strategies on future planning to minimize risks and ensure continued regulatory compliance with 
minimal unexpected impact on business and consumer safety.
• Implement and strategize continuous improvement processes to enhance and elevate information presented to 
stakeholders.
• Educate regulatory specialists, marketing, research & development, corporate quality, legal, operations, plant 
quality and senior leadership on current and emerging regulations by providing guidance and training. Providing 
support to other teams as necessary.
• Establish and maintain SOPs to ensure compliance to all state, federal and international regulations.
• Partner with plant quality teams to streamline procedures that adhere to Ferrara regulatory standards.
• Responsible for defining the scope and leading new regulation compliance projects to ensure compliance across 
the global portfolio.
• Performs other duties and special projects as assigned (Occasional travel for team meetings, trainings, and 
manufacturing plant visits)
• Maintains high level of professionalism in all interactions within team as well as with cross-functional teams.
• Ensures adherence to all company policies and procedures. 
• Understands and demonstrates the Company’s core values.

Skills that will make you successful

• Knowledge of international food law and regulations and comfort with regulatory interpretation
          o China, Japan, South Korea, Australia, etc.
• Basic understanding of quality requirements during new product development stages
• Ability to handle complexity, multiple projects and requests, and short timelines
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong drive for results and ability to bring projects to completion
• Good judgment, decisiveness, and interpersonal skills
• Detail oriented, accurate and excellent record keeping skills

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, analytical ability, leadership
• Significant experience working cross-functionally in a regulatory or labeling environment
• Computer software skills to include Word, Excel, and Regulatory specific systems

Experiences that will support your success

• B.S. Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, the Sciences, Engineering or related field is required
• >7 years’ experience in food industry required
• >7 years’ experience within Regulatory, Quality, or Research and Development, CPG industry preferred
• HACCP certification preferred
• FSMA PCQI and GFSI (ISO, BRC or SQF) certifications preferred
