Ferrara is on a mission to become the Global Leader in Sugar Confections through exciting new product innovation across our portfolio of iconic brands. The Senior Industrial Designer will support new product development within Ferrara’s sugar confections portfolio by leveraging their skillset across the full design process from early-stage innovation through detailed design for production.

Ways you will make a difference

  • Support in planning, facilitation and concept generation for Ideation sessions to fill our future product pipeline. 
  • Bring concepts to life through hand sketches, 3D CAD, renderings and prototypes. You’ll also work closely with the Food Scientists on our Rapid Prototyping team to bring concepts to life through edible prototypes. 
  • Design new candies for our Seasonal product portfolio bringing delight to customers through fun, beautiful shapes for our Valentine’s Day, Easter, Halloween and Holiday lines. 
  • Design new candies for our everyday product lines, bringing our iconic Brands (SweeTarts, Trolli, Nerds, FunDip, Brach’s and more!) to life through new shapes, colors, textures, eating experiences and formats. 
  • Stay up to date on the latest trends in our industry and broader cultural trends to inspire and inform ground-breaking work. 
  • Coach more junior designers and add to the positive culture of our Industrial Design team. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners from Brand Marketing, R&D, Process Engineering and Project Management to bring products to market. 
     

Skills that will make you successful

  • A love of food, candy and all the experiences and culture surrounding them 
  • Excellent sketch visualization (paper + digital), 3D CAD (Solidworks required, Blender is a plus) and rendering skills (Keyshot required, Blender is a plus) 
  • Experience running 3D prints 
  • A nuanced understanding of Brand and an ability to translate Brand into physical product 
  • An affinity for storytelling through compelling imagery + well-structured presentations 
  • Strong ability to understand the consumer + translate their needs into tangible solutions 
  • An “always learning” mindset and an affinity for learning new tools, software and processes 
  • A professional attitude to receiving and incorporating feedback 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Ability to manage your time and meet agreed upon deadlines 
  • Ability to travel up to 10% (visiting factories for trials)

Experiences that will support your success

  • BA or BFA in Industrial Design 
  • 6+ years of prior experience designing and launching products
  • A strong portfolio
