Order Management Specialist

Work Location: ​Chicago​

Due to the highly interactive and team-based nature of this role, in-person attendance for most of the workweek (i.e., 3 days or more) is essential for: effective communication including during in-person meetings, strong supervision, real-time problem-solving, and participation in cross-functional initiatives.

At Ferrara, delivering the right product to the right customer at the right time is critical to our success—and the Order Management Specialist plays a central role in making that happen. This position sits at the intersection of supply chain, customer operations, and sales, ensuring that customer orders are executed with precision, speed, and a high level of service.

 

In this role, you will take ownership of the order lifecycle, managing customer orders against key service metrics such as case fill and on-time delivery. You’ll analyze inventory positions, anticipate production timing, and make informed decisions that balance service excellence with operational realities. Your ability to think ahead and prioritize effectively will directly impact customer satisfaction and Ferrara’s ability to deliver on its commitments.

 

Beyond execution, this role requires strong analytical thinking and problem-solving. You’ll handle non-routine situations that require judgment beyond standard processes—investigating order discrepancies, resolving service issues, and partnering cross-functionally with supply chain, transportation, and sales teams to find solutions. You will serve as a trusted point of contact, ensuring that customer needs are met while maintaining operational discipline.

  • Analyze incoming orders and investigate and resolve customer issues.
  • Formulate optimal cost-efficient case-fill and delivery options to meet customers’ requirements.
  • Advise Sales and Brokers of options to maximize service levels with order updates relative to inventory levels.
  • Work independently to resolve transportation and distribution issues.
  • Represent Supply Chain in customer collaboration meetings
  • Ensures adherence to all company policies and procedures.

Experiences that will support your success

  • Minimum 4 years' experience in a customer facing role within the CPG industry 
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Supply Chain Related Majors or Business preferred.
  • Detail Oriented and results driven mindset with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with large sets of data and helping make data driven decisions.
  • Working knowledge of SAP ECC or S4
  • Experience working cross functionally including sales, supply chain, pricing, quality, and other departments. CPG experience preferred.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $60,675 to $84,945 annually.
