Manufacturing Data Engineer

Work Location: ​Chicago​

 

Due to the highly interactive and team-based nature of this role, in-person attendance for most of the workweek (i.e., 3 days or more) is essential for: effective communication including during in-person meetings, strong supervision, real-time problem-solving, and participation in cross-functional initiatives.

The Manufacturing Data Engineer will build data infrastructure and dashboards to empower data-driven decisions.  By working with data, the data engineer can consistently provide valuable insights on how Ferrara can improve its competitive advantage through initiatives in manufacturing, cost, quality, efficiency, service, and automation.  The data engineer will be responsible for analytical and process support of our manufacturing facilities.

Ways you will make a difference

 

  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements, automating manual processes, and optimizing data delivery and visualization
  • Work with manufacturing stakeholders and IT teams to assist with data related issues and support their data infrastructure needs/requirements
  • Build analytic tools from multiple sources to provide actionable insights into key business performance metrics and find opportunities to grow or improve
  • Use project management skills to keep projects on time and within given constraints (resources, cost, etc)
  • Use data to identify process gaps and inefficiencies within the current environment.  Lead projects to improve/ standardize processes and strengthen controls
  • Collaborate with the plant and IT teams to enhance the way our business utilizes technology, to increase user adoption of technology, and to drive efficiency. Validate new solutions, provide on-site support, and help train users during implementations of new technologies or capabilities
  • Support new initiatives such as new technology and automation from a data standpoint.  Identify ways to extract important information on these new technologies and automations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Experiences that will support your success

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, or technical/business field
  • 4+ years’ experience
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing, data mining, and reporting on large and complex datasets
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Demonstrated knowledge of a data visualization platform (such as Tableau or Power BI)
  • Demonstrated Knowledge of SQL required
  • Knowledge of additional languages such as Python, R, VBA, etc, are a plus
  • Experience in Statistical and Operations Research-based problem solving is a plus
  • Working knowledge of SAP ECC and/or SAP APO is a plus
  • Willingness and ability to travel to our manufacturing sites, largely located in the Chicago area but may include occasional travel to other locations within the United States and International locations

Compensation

 

 The salary range for this position is $99,600 to $139,440 annually.
