Analyst, Category Intelligence

The primary role of the Analyst, Category Intelligence is to dissect category and shopper data, perform strategic analyses, and develop reporting tools for the organization. Reporting to the Manager, Category Intelligence, this individual will be responsible for owning and unlocking the power of syndicated data and retailer data to help drive meaningful impact for the organization. The Category Leadership team is responsible for developing and sharing (internal and external) actionable insights and understanding key dynamics of our categories, retailers, marketplace and overall industry.  The role is key to driving our business forward in a data-driven world.
We are looking for a tenacious problem solver who is motivated by innovative uses of data and technology to help drive action for the business and gets excited about bringing new ideas or applications of existing models/analyses to our team.
 
 

Ways you will make a difference

  • Advance our analytics capabilities from mere data collection to generating insightful, actionable business strategies, employing a holistic “What, So What, Now What” approach
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners on cross-functional projects, providing category insights to inform broader commercial strategies
  • Build out reporting tools (workbooks, dashboards, etc.) summarizing KPI’s, metrics, and insights enabling self-service analysis for the organization 
  • Develop and leverage BIC planograms to strategize on product placement, including strategies for space measurement, shelving, and cross-category opportunities
  • Create and manage POG library, and ensure accuracy and management of the library
  • Manage the administration of the Category Leadership budget process
  • Devise effective solutions in unstructured situations and navigate through ambiguity 
     

Skills that will make you successful

  • Proficiency with Power BI, Tableau, or other data visualization packages
  • Proficient/Expert in planogram/Space Management software (JDA preferred) with experience creating or reviewing planograms, and using them to strategize on product placement
  • Experience with Retailer Loyalty Platforms (e.g. 84.51, Luminate)
  • Familiarity with RPA (Robotic Process Automation)
  • Insatiably and intellectually curious – motivated to dig into data, inspired to deliver accurate and actionable insights
  • Possess an ownership mentality, a bias for action and a passion for delivering results 
  • Ability to learn quickly, and then act with agility
  • Strong creative and problem-solving ability
  • Collaborative, able to work with several internal and external stakeholders and present data in a professional and organized fashion.
  • An interest in data visualization and using it to support effective data storytelling
  • A passion for knowledge and staying up to date on the latest trends in technology / analytics to bring outside thinking to the organization
  • Strong oral/written communication and storytelling skills
  • Comfort working independently and through ambiguity
     

Experiences that will support your success

  • Education:  Bachelor's degree
  • Years of experience:  2+ years 
  • Experience in CPG relevant/area of business intelligence / category leadership
  • Experience with point of sale and consumer panel data (IRI / Nielsen)
  • Demonstrated ability to translate data analysis into insights and action
  • Comfort working with large data sets 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (PowerBI, Tableau etc.)

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $74,000 - $102,000.
