Position Summary

The Sanitation Technician will plan, direct, and control daily and nightly cleaning activities to meet established standards.  Position is responsible for following proper procedures to clean industrialized equipment, ensure adherence to food safety standards and assist in minimizing down time.

Essential Accountabilities

  • Manage plant sanitation procedures, programs and regulatory requirements, ensuring all plant equipment is clean and safe for production
  • Strictly adhere to sanitation, GMP, and safety standards
  • Perform cleaning and sanitation activities according to Master Sanitation Schedules for the facility interior and exterior and ensure superior sanitation of equipment and surrounding areas
  • Participate in regular meetings with plant management to discuss quality and sanitation improvements
  • Facilitate problem resolution related to sanitation and sanitation quality issues
  • Follow up on work orders with the appropriate associates to ensure expeditious performance of the requested work and verify/validate with signature
  • Monitor the Chemical storage and dispense the appropriate concentration for cleaning activities
  • Receive and track sanitary and chemical inventory
  • Monitor sanitation team in the use of chemicals and proper safety procedures, checking inventory levels of chemicals and ordering supplies when necessary
  • Understand and demonstrate the Company’s core values and operating principles
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned support to Ferrara Candy Company business objectives

Skills that will make you successful

Knowledge, Skills, Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years sanitation experience in the food-industry preferred
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals
  • Basic knowledge of HACCP, BRC food safety and GMP principles
  • Sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines; self-directed
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize; ability to work under pressure and meet established goals and objectives
  • Demonstrated knowledge of efficient and safe manufacturing operations to include product and associate safety, product quality (success rates), throughput delivery and cost control (minimizing downtime and waste, optimizing yield)
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office software
