Project Engineer

Job Location: ​Bellwood​

This role is based out of our Maywood Drive location in Belwood and will be a hybrid in-person role. This role will be partnering closely with our manufacturing plants and will require onsite visits.

The project engineer will be responsible for the scoping and execution of capital projects ranging from $5,000 to $5,000,000.  They will be responsible to work with all plant based and corporate stakeholders to ensure projects are executed safely and efficiently.    

Ways you will make a difference

  • Manages capital projects from concept through execution
  • Develops and communicates project schedules and conducts product reviews
  • Works closely with scheduling and plant personnel for start-up plans
  • Ensures that the end result of the project is what was agreed upon during project submission
  • Supports manufacturing facilities with technical troubleshooting
  • Participates in project reviews and audits for safety, quality and feasibility
  • Participates in monthly plant meetings and provides updates to senior level operations management
  • Closes projects in a timely manner ensuring that all stakeholders are trained and ready 
  • Understands and demonstrates the Company’s core values
  • Conducts assigned work in a safe manner and adheres to Ferrara safety methods
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Skills that will make you successful

  • Strong “hands-on” mechanical aptitude from previous industry experience
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment design and functional issues, with an emphasis on packaging equipment
  • Previous experience in maintenance is a plus
  • Previous experience executing small and large scale capital projects is required
  • CPG/Food manufacturing experience is strongly preferred
  • Ability to create 2D and 3D CAD designs and layouts is required
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure
  • Strong vendor management skills
  • Ability to work well in teams
  • Good organization skills
  • Competency using MS office suite and MS Project (excel, word, powerpoint)
  • Demonstrated ability to meet critical deadlines
  • Previous experience dealing with multiple equipment vendors and managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to travel 5-10%, mainly domestic for equipment FATs

Experiences that will support your success

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical engineering
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of industry experience with at least 3-5 years of project engineering 
  • Experience with food manufacturing equipment, both processing and packaging is a plus

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $99,600 to $139,440 annually.
